GH's Top Ten Most Outrageous Castings And Re - Castings

Well, talk about a change of direction. The character of Gia Campbell, as played by the drop dead gorgeous Marisa Macguire Ramirez, was originally a blackmailer turned model. She became, after quite the competition against Elizabeth, the Face of Deception. Ramirez had a wonderful chemistry with the then-Nikolas, Coltin Scott, and the Fab Four (Nik, Gia, Lucky and Elizabeth) got lots of airtime.

Then, Ramirez left to do a show called "Miracles." In the case of a very popular young actress like Ramirez, many times, the producers will not recast. The idea is that maybe the actress will fall flat on her face and return. Hey, it's happened before.

GH decided that it really needed the character of Gia and couldn't wait for "Miracles" to tank so they hired a replacement, Andrea C.

Pearson. First of all, GH never really made it clear WHY they needed a replacement Gia since they basically shelved the character as soon as Ramirez left, leaving poor Pearson with very little to do. Suddenly, Gia was no longer the glam model, she was a committed law school student. And she and Nikolas split. The lovely Pearson shows up from time to time, pining for Zander, ministering to Emily, searching Scott Baldwin's office or showing off a new hairdo. She occasionally wears power suits. Concentrate - you can almost smell the mothballs
